Getting Started with Teams
Science doesn't occur in a vacuum, but collaboration can be tricky regardless of whether your team members are down the hall or across an ocean. Ovation makes team dynamics a whole lot easier. Every project has a team, and each member has a set permission level that you only have to set once. Anyone can create an activity and help to connect input files and output files in order to build the story of your project. Beyond that, the roles themselves are straightforward:
Member: Can view and upload files, but can only edit metadata or provide revisions for something that originated with them.
Curator: All the capabilities of a member, but can edit or provide a revision for any data or document in the project
Admin: The top dog. Can do everything with data that a curator can do, but has capabilities within the team as well, from changing permissions, adding new team members, and even removing existing team members from the project.
Coming soon: In the summer of 2017, projects will have a role strictly limited to "read-only" privileges. Feel free to get in touch to voice your support for this feature, or get an updated estimate on when we'll release it.
